How I Work

Therapy is a collaborative process. I provide a confidential, judgement-free space so that you can explore the things you find most difficult.

As an Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist, I draw theory and approaches from multiple styles of Therapy, primarily Person Centred, Transactional Analysis, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.

Ultimately, the frameworks we use to explore your feelings and experiences will be adapted to suit your therapeutic goals. If at any point a certain framework doesn’t feel right for you, we can look to take a different approach.

The truth can be uncomfortable, but it is essential for personal growth and understanding.

My aim is for us to work together to unpick your experiences so that you can better understand the choices you are making. Understanding why you make the choices you make is a first step towards gaining self-awareness and making long lasting change. We'll explore that together.

The real change starts with honesty, accountability and truth. So many of us bury our true feelings to fit in and be accepted by those around us, or behave in ways that don't align with who we truly want to be. I understand how scary and uncomfortable it can feel to begin to break out of this cycle.

“You are not the voice inside your head, you are the thing that listens to the voice.”

Realising that my internal dialogue was talking to me from a place of guilt, from a place of shame, often being hard on myself and ignoring important context was having a direct impact on my life, my behaviour, and how I felt about myself.

When we are able to separate ourselves from that voice, we are able to examine and understand why this voice says what it says and where it comes from. This can change our perspective and help us to look back on our experiences in a new light.

My passion lies in helping you unpick and examine your internal voice, understand your experiences and gain tools to move forward with greater self-awareness. Perhaps what the voice says is relevant, but maybe it is also giving you a hard time and preventing you from living the life you want to live.

Everything shifted for me when I came to understand this one thing:

"The true weight of a person is the gap between who they are and who they know they could be."

- Marcus Aurelius (adapted)

By exploring ourselves more deeply, we are capable of meeting ourselves with more acceptance and understanding. It is possible to take accountability, create boundaries, and improve our lives.
